2013 Culture relations

10th SJAHI Skill Contest

 The 10th Skill Contest took place at Saudi Japan Automobile High Institute (SJAHI) on February 19, 2013. Five groups of Saudi young trainees competed against one another over their automobile maintenance skills.
Mr. Salim Asmari, Principal of SJAHI, and Mr. Yasuo Aoki, Deputy Director General of International Department of Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) delivered opening speeches.
At the award ceremony after the contest, Mr. Jun Yoshida, Consul-General of Japan, mentioned in his speech that "The Saudi trainees who learned Japanese work ethics at SJAHI have been highly evaluated in Saudi Arabia", expecting their further diligent efforts.
Medals and diplomas were awarded to the winners at the ceremony.

ACGC Film Festival 2013

 On March 31, 2013, Japanese film show was held at the residence garden of Consul-General Mr. Jun Yoshida as a part of Asian Film Festival organized by ACGC (Asian Consuls General Club).
After Mr. Yoshida's welcome speech, Japanese feature film "Shodo Girls" was screened following a promotional video "Tokyo".
Saudi Government officials, Saudi businessmen, former Saudi exchange students, Jeddah consular corps, journalists, university students and Japanese residents enjoyed the films as well as light meals served.

CGC Asian Food Festival 2013

 Asian Food Festival 2013 was held in the evening of April 4 at the Residence of Consul General of Indonesia as a finale of the 6th Asian Film Festival.
13 Asian countries opened own stalls and treated the guests with their distinct cuisines.
Japanese Consulate served Japanese cuisine such as "Sushi", which received ovations from the visitors.

Reception for the Japanese Emperor's Birthday

 In celebration of the 80th birthday of H. M. Akihito, Emperor of Japan, Mr. Matahiro Yamaguchi, Consul-General of Japan in Jeddah, hosted a reception at his residence on December 4th, 2013. H. E. Ambassador. Fareed Kamel Azhar, Duputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region), Consul-Generals in Jeddah, Saudi Businessmen, and Japanese residents here attended the reception.
In a speech at the beginning of the reception, Mr. Yamaguchi touched on the existing friendly relationship between Saudi Arabia and Japan in the several fields including energy sector, visit of H. E. Shinzo Abe, Japanese Prime Minister on April, 2013 which created further friendly business relationship, Japan's contribution to the human resource development through SJAHI (Saudi Japanese Automobile High Institue) and accepting young Saudi students who would like to study in Japan.
Taking the opportunity of the reception, order of the sacred treasure, Gold and Silver Rays was given to Mr. Abudulelah Ahmed Al-Darwish, who retired after his long time contribution to the Consulate-General of Japan.
Japanese car agencies set the PR banners in the venue to appeal their business.
All the attendants enjoyed Japanese cuisine including Sushi cooked by a Japanese chef of the Consul-General.
