2011 Culture relations

Live performance of RAKUGO (Japanese Comic Storytelling) and KAMI-KIRI (Paper Cutting)

RAKUGO and KAMI-KIRI demonstrations took place at the library of the Consulate on March 9 and 10, 2011 starring SHUMPUTEI SHOMATSU (RAKUGO), SANSHOTEI CHARAKU (RAKUGO), and HAYASHIYA IMAMARU (KAMI-KIRI). It helped the audiences to get familiar with Japanese traditional culture and enhance their understanding about it.

SJAHI Graduation Ceremony for the 8th Batch Students

A Graduation Ceremony for 231 students of the 8th batch was held at the Saudi Japanese Automobile High Institute (SJAHI) in Jeddah on June 25, 2011.
H. E. Shigeru Endo, Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H. E. Mr. Jun Yoshida, Consul-General of Japan at Jeddah, H. E. Dr. Ali bin Nasser Al-Ghafees, Governor of Technical & Vocational Training Corporation and many other guests attended the ceremony and cerebrated the graduates.

Meeting of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Jeddah-stationed Japanese companies

On October 1, 2011, the Consul-General H. E. Mr. Jun Yoshida presided a meeting session between Japanese companies in Jeddah and JCCI at his residence. Mr. Alsulaiman, Vice-Chairman of JCCI, Mr. Mandoura, Secretary-General of JCCI, Mr. Yasuyuki Kamada, President of Jeddah Japanese Society, and some other members from JCCI and Japanese companies attended the meeting.
Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed its desire of establishing joint ventures at SME level, and Japanese enterprises presented their demand to share the details about favourable treatment by Saudi Government for attracting foreign companies.

Reception for the Japanese Emperor's birthday

On December 6, 2011, the Consul-General of Japan at Jeddah H. E. Mr. Jun Yoshida hosted a reception for the birthday of the H. M. the Emperor of Japan at his residence. Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region Branch), Consul-Generals in Jeddah, Saudi Businessmen, and many Japanese residents attended the reception and cerebrated the 78th birthday of H. M. the Emperor. The Consul-General H. E. Mr. Jun Yoshida delivered a speech in the ceremony and gratefully mentioned to a close economic relationship between Japan and Saudi Arabia as well as the great success of the Janadriya Festival which was held in April, featuring Japanese traditional culture and advanced technology. During the speech, H. E. Mr. Yoshida expressed his sincere gratitude for the generous support for the Great East Japan Earthquake from Saudi Arabia and highlighted Japan's commitments to its reconstruction from the earthquake disaster. The reception was blessed with good weather and the guests enjoyed Sushi and other Japanese foods.
