Evening Series for Japanese Language & Culture (5th night)

2022/12/11
On December 8, the fifth in this series, participants practiced Japanese conversation under the theme of "Japanese for Restaurants," followed by a tea ceremony experience in the second half of the day. After a demonstration by our staff and a Japanese resident volunteer, and after explaining what the tea ceremony is with a video, each participant actually made tea with the support of our staff.

At the end of the lecture, our staff explained a poem from the "Rikyu Poem" by Sen no Rikyu, the founder of the tea ceremony. The participants deepened their understanding and interest in the basics of the tea ceremony, such as the need for the master and guests to harmonize with each other.

Participants commented that they were happy to have experienced the tranquility and serenity of the tea ceremony, and that they were happy to have been exposed to the beauty of Japanese culture.
