JAPAN eVISA

Online Visa Application (JAPAN eVISA)
- All nationals who reside in Saudi Arabia are now able to apply for a tourist visa online (Single entry visa for a stay up to 90 days).
- Applicants can submit the visa application through the JAPAN eVISA website (fill in the application form and upload supporting documents) to receive the electronic visa, “Visa Issuance Notice”.
- Please beware of fraud website looking alike the JAPAN eVISA website.
- Applicants are required to log-in to the JAPAN eVISA website and display “Visa Issuance Notice” at the departure airport under the Internet environment. PDF data, screenshot or printout of the page will not be accepted.

Update (on July 9) Visa fee online payment (from July 10, 2023)
If a visa fee is applicable (depending on nationality), you can pay online by a Credit/Debit card.
Accepted Credit card brands: Visa / Mastercard / American Express / Diners Club / JCB
Accepted Debit card brands: Visa / Mastercard
Cash payment is also available, in that case applicants (or their representatives) need to visit the Japanese Embassy or Consulate General to pay the fee (Appointment is not required).

○Diplomat and special Passport holders must apply for visa only through the consular section, not through the E-Visa website.

○Delay of processing:
     Due to the large number of people using the JAPAN eVISA, it is taking a long time to process applications. While the minimum processing time for a visa application at our consular office is 5 business days, it will take much longer if you apply for a visa using JAPAN eVISA. 

     We are all working hard to best serve you, but if you are in a hurry, please apply through the consular office. If you already submitted the application through JAPAN eVISA and want to apply through the consular office, you need to withdraw your applicaion in the system. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your understanding and cooperation.

​E-Visa frequently asked questions
- If a visa fee is applicable (depending on nationality), applicants need to visit the Japanese Embassy or Consulate General to pay the fee in cash. Online payment is not available at this time.
- The visas are valid for 3 months from the date of issue.
- You can only apply for single-entry visa for tourism, not multiple-entry visa.

- Required Documents:
-- Applicant must upload the same requirements for the tourist visa. Please do not upload unnecessary documents. check here
-- Make sure that all the required documents are sufficient and clear before you submit it. If not, you must withdraw your application and submit new application again.
-- If your application is incomplete and the documents are not clear, we will cancel it without processing. Once cancelled, you should make a new application and submit it again. Entering incorrect information and/or uploading the required documents inadequately could lead to a delay of examination or cancellation of your eVISA application, which may affect your travel plans.

*We do not request paid flight tickets. And we are not responsible if you cannot use the purchased flight due to delay or denial of visa.

  Common mistakes for E-Visa cancellation:

  • Visa photo is not good.                                    
  • Documents are incomplete or unclear blurry (It is preferable to upload documents in PDF format or scanned and from a computer).        
  • The flight ticket is incomplete (it must contain all information and all destinations from departure to return to the Kingdom).
  • Documents in Arabic.
  • Not attaching proof of financial competence with sufficient funds.

Visa Validity
1. Single-entry visas are valid for three months and double-entry visas are for six months.
2. Multiple-entry visas are valid for 12 months or 3 years from the date of issue.
3. In case a visa is valid for three months, the holder can use it to enter Japan any time within three months from the date of issue.
4. When a visa is not used within three months, it will be automatically invalid. The holder has to apply for a visa again with the required documents.

 

Visa Application Procedure

Applicant must prepare all the requirements, then send all documents to our e-mail for pre-checking. The reply will be sent to the applicant within 3 working days, if the documents are complete an appointment will be made to apply with the original documents. 

* For applicants who applied for the Tourist E-visa and their application status in under examination please wait 5 - 7 working days until you receive result or if your application been cancelled.

1. Fill in a Visa Application Form 
(available in here / see sample), and prepare other required documents.

2. Send all documents in PDF format only to our e-mail for pre-checking (documents size must not exceed 10 MB).

3. The time required for visa issuance is 5 - 7 working days in some cases it may take longer.

 

 - In order to ensure accuracy, we generally do not accept consultations regarding visa requirements via phone call, please read through our website or contact us by e-mail, and our staff will reply to individual questions as needed.

[NOTES]
(1) The introduction letter from workplace should mention the salary of the applicant and must be addressed to the consulate.
(2) We may require additional documents by visa officer's assessment.
(3) The passport of the applicant should contain at least 2 empty pages. In case empty pages are less than 2, the passport should be renewed in advance.
(4) The picture of the applicant should be taken in full-face (without hiding any part of the face, especially forehead, or eyebrow), without a cap, hat, or hair accessory.  Ghutrah (Shemagh), Hijab are acceptable based on the above conditions.
(5) The picture should be
 - taken within thr last 6 months.
 - in color & white background.
 - pasted with glue only (please do not staple or tape) on the application form.
(6) Applicant is required to come to the visa counter of the consulate when he/she applies and receives unless unaffordable circumstances make him/her unable to come.
(7)Applying by mail is not accepted to avoid the loss of the passport.
(8)We do not have urgent visa issuance service.
(9)The single entry visa cannot be extended.
(10) Application should be submitted well in advance, preferably at least 2 weeks before the departure date.  
(11) Submitted documents cannot be returned whether the application is granted or not.
(12) We can't accept your request, such as making a copy of your passport in our office. Therefore kindly prepare all visa forms properly before submitting.

Frequently Asked Questions about VISA

Visa Fee

1. Visa fees can be paid only in cash. Please bring the exact amount. Personal checks and credit cards are not accepted.
- Visa Fees for Japanese Fiscal Year 2023.
(Fees might change with effect from 1st of April each year.)

2. Visa fee will be gratis for Diplomatic, Official VISAs and nationals of countries that have reciprocal arrangements with Japan (please check with the visa section of the Consulate).

For Diplomatic/Official Passport Holders or For Official Visit Sponsored by Saudi Government
1. Valid passport and copy of it.
2. 1 application form duly filled in and signed by applicant.
3. Note verbal from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the concerned Ministry of Saudi Government certifying the identity of the person concerned, his or her purposes and traveling schedule to Japan (Translated to English).
Note : Additional documents may be required(such as flight information(round-trip),accomodation booking,etc)

For Business Visa Applicants
1. Valid passport and copy of it.
2. 1 application form duly filled in and signed by applicant.
3. Photocopy of iqama and exit/re-entry visa (for non-Saudi only).
4. Flight reservation information ( round trip ) in English only.
5. Documents from the applicant's company certifying the purpose of the visit and financial support. (certified by Chamber of Commerce & Industry for non-Saudis). For example: original letter signed by an authorized executive officer, on company letterhead, stating the following:
(a) applicant's position in the company.
(b) duration of employment.
(c) nature/purpose of visit in detail.
(d) dates/duration of stay intended.
(e) contact person, company name in Japan.
6. Letter of Reason for invitation,Letter of Guarantee, Company Details/Profile and itinerary from Japan (Japanese or English acceptable).

For Applicants of Multiple Entry Visa (for Individual with considerable financial capacity)

For Multiple Visa Applicants
1. When an applicant will visit Japan a few times in one year, and wishes double-entry visas or multiple-entry visas to be issued, a formal request should be made in writing either by the Saudi or Japanese company with reasons (plesae note that some case will not be approved).
2. In priciple, 3 years-valid or 1 year-valid Multiple visa will be issued for the nationals of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, South Africa and 5 years-valid Multiple visas for the nationals of U.A.E. by the decision of the Consulate-General of Japan. For other nationals, 1 year-valid may be issued after consultations with Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo, which will take about 1~2 weeks.
Note: in some cases, additional documents may be required.

For Tourist Visa Applicants
1. Valid passport and copy of it.
2. 1 application form duly filled in and signed by applicant.
3. Photocopy of iqama and exit/re-entry visa (for non-Saudi only).
4. Flight reservation information (a full round trip including departure from ksa) in English only. 
5. Accommodation booking.
6. Trip Plan / Travel itinerary, must match flight reservation.
7. Documents certifying that the person concerned can defray all expenses incurred during the stay in Japan. For example: Employment & Salary certificate (certified by Chamber of Commerce & Industry for non-Saudis)
8. For family members,provide a copy of family register translated into English.
Note: in some cases, additional documents may be required (such as bank statement for the last 3 months, etc).
         
For Those Visiting Relatives, Friends or Accuaintances
1. Valid passport and copy of it.
2. 1 application form duly filled in and signed by applicant.
3. Photocopy of iqama and exit/re-entry visa (for non-Saudi only).
4. Flight reservation information (round trip) in English only.
5. Trip Plan / Travel itinerary, must match flight reservation.
6. Documents certifying that the person concerned can defray all expenses incurred during the stay in Japan.
For example: Employment & Salary certificate (certified by Chamber of Commerce & Industry for non-Saudis)
7. Letter of Guarantee for invitation from Japan (Japanese or English acceptable).
8. Certificate of residence (with description of relationship among all family members) of relatives, friends living in Japan.
Note: When the guarantor is a foreign national, submit a photocopy of the both sides of the valid Residence card (the Alien Registration), a certificate of residence without omission of matters listed, and a photocopy of his/her passport (including the pages of status items, the record of entry/departure, and permission of residence)

For Those Studying in Japan, and Those Accompanying Students as Maharam
1. Valid passport and copy of it.
2. 1 application form duly filled in and signed by applicant.
3. Photocopy of iqama and exit/re-entry visa (for non-Saudi only).
4. Certificate of Eligibility and copy of it.
In case a Certificate of Eligibility is not obtained in Japan,
(a) Admission of College in Japan and copy of it.
(b) Financial Support letter (in English) from Saudi Government (for Government Scholarship).
(c) Financial Support letter (in English) from Saudi Government mentioning Mahram's name and passport number.
(d) Financial Support letter from guarantor (for Private Scholarship).
(e) Documents certifying guarantor income (for Private Scholarship).

Note: As for Maharam Visa, please submit the application at least 3 weeks prior to the departure to Japan.

※ According to the August 2019 Royal Decree, Mahram is not required for women above 21 years old she can travel alone, however Mahram is required for women under 20 years old ( scholarships, and married women are exempted), for a Mahram to accompany under 20 woman to study abroad, please consult with your host institution when apply for COE.
        
Work Visa with Certificate of Eligibility (COE):
1. Application form duly filled in and signed by applicant.
2. Valid passport and copy of it.
3. Company contract or employment letter from Japan.
4. Flight reservation.
5. Photocopy of iqama and final exit visa (for non-Saudi only).
