Greeting from Consul-General

yamamoto
Assalam Alaikum. I am YAMAMOTO Daisuke, the newly appointed Consul General of Japan in Jeddah.

Our Consulate General covers the provinces of Makkah and Madinah, both rich in Islamic civilization and history, and Jeddah is the second largest city in Saudi Arabia, located on the Red Sea and having a historical tradition of being open to the outside world.

Approximately 200 Japanese residents live in the area and are active in various fields such as business, academia, education and culture. As Consul General, I am committed to building a relationship of trust with government officials and other related parties in the business and cultural communities so that these Japanese residents can continue their activities safely and securely.

In 2025, Japan and Saudi Arabia will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. I hope that this will be an opportunity to further develop the relationship between our two countries and promote mutual understanding and exchange. I and my team at the Consulate General will continue to make various efforts to enhance and deepen these relations.

December 2023
Consul-General of Japan in Jeddah
