Consul General Shimmura attends the Automotive Energy Efficiency Seminar at SJAHI
2022/12/19
On December 19, an online workshop was held by the Saudi Japanese Automobile High Institute (SJAHI), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) to promote technical cooperation and experience sharing between Japan and Saudi Arabia regarding technologies to improve automobile energy efficiency. Consul General Shimmura made the following remarks at the beginning of the workshop.
H.E. Mr. Salem Al-Asmari, Executive Director of SJAHI
Honorable Representatives from the partners of SJAHI
Distinguished Guests,
Assalam alaikom wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
It is my pleasure to address this important Seminar today that coincides with the 20th anniversary of SJAHI. I would like to express my sincere congratulations to H.E. Mr. Salem Al-Asmari, Executive Director of SJAHI, its officials and students, and Saudi Energy Efficiency Centre. I am also happy to welcome representatives from Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Energy Conservation Centre, and Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association. Thank you very much for the hard work done by all of you for realizing this occasion today.
I would say that SJAHI is by far the most wonderful model of constructive and fruitful cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Japan in one of the most important fields, the human resources development. It has provided the Saudi labor market with 3,800 Saudi technicians in the field of automobile technology and maintenance, which greatly contributes to the Kingdom’s effort to achieve the goals of its ambitious and comprehensive national development plan, Saudi Vision 2030. I hope that SJAHI will maintain its brilliant career and outstanding performance.
Talking about the significance of energy efficiency, I should say that this event is more than timely since it came as the first bilateral joint event in the field of tackling climate change after COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, and the determination shown by the Kingdom and its awareness of the challenges and ways to face them, as Saudi Arabia has adopted several initiatives to deal with energy efficiency.
Amid such background, I am confident that today’s our seminar is quite instrumental in serving as another building block in our joint efforts in this field, encouraging further promotion of the culture of energy efficiency to achieve their goal of Net Zero and nurture young Saudi youth to become as future experts in this field.
Finally, I wish to see our two friendly countries continue their cooperation and that Saudi Arabia achieve further prosperity and development under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
