Promotion of Japanese Wagyu Beef

On January 26, Consul-General Mr. Shimmura hosted at his official residence a dinner in cooperation with Sheraton Jeddah Hotel. The main dish at the dinner was Japanese Wagyu beef, the exportation of which to Saudi Arabia has recently become finally possible based on the results of the bilateral negotiations between Japan and Saudi Arabia in 2020.
Consul-General Mr. Shimmura expressed his welcome to the commencement of the export of Japanese Wagyu beef to Saudi Arabia, as the Government of Japan is currently working on promoting the export of Wagyu beef, one of Japan's representative livestock products, to Saudi Arabia. He also expressed the hope that today’s guests would enjoy the taste of Japanese Wagyu beef and spread its appeal.
The participants welcomed the increase in the number of Japanese restaurants in Jeddah in recent years due to the popularity of Japanese culture and cuisine, and expressed their delight that mouth-watering Japanese Wagyu beef, which literally melts in mouth, is finally available in Saudi Arabia, hoping that many Saudis will discover this taste. The "Pound Cake with Green Tea and Dates" by the chef of Consul-General Mr. Takano was also served as a symbol of the collaboration between Japanese and Saudi Arabian food cultures which was well received by the guests.
