Lecture on Japan's Official Development Assistance at the Islamic Development Bank

On March 5, Professor Disaku HIGASHI, Institute of International Relations at Sophia University in Tokyo, who was visiting Jeddah, delivered a lecture at the Islamic Development Bank. In his lecture titled "Supporting Self-Reliance and Stability: Japan's Official Development Assistance and NGO Activities, including its appproaches to Afghanistan," Professor Higashi explained the history of Japan's ODA and its main principles, such as support for self-reliance, and then discussed the activities of Japanese NGOs in Afghanistan, especially the orrigation projects by the late Dr. Tetsu NAKAMURA there.
Following the lecture which was attended by about 25 staff of the bank, a lively Q&A session was held, which provided a meaningful opportunity for the bank's staff to deepen their understanding and interest in Japan's international cooperation.
