Reunion Dinner for Former Students Studying in Japan

       The Consulate-General of Japan in Jeddah, in cooperation with Saudi Association of Japan Graduates and Associates (SAJGA), hosted on Thursday 25th May a Reunion Dinner for Former Students Studying in Japan.

       Around 30 former students in Japan including professors, doctors and master degree holders in various fields attended the Reunion held in the Residence of Consul- General of Japan in Jeddah.

       Consul-General Mr. Shimmura, in his welcome speech, thanked SAJGA members for promoting Japanese culture and study in Japan. He hailed their assistance and advice for the former students who joined Japanese universities before.

       Mr. Shimmura also expressed his appreciation for the presence of Dr. Abdul Hafeez Samarkandi, the first Saudi student who studied in Japan and received the Japanese Foreign Minister's Award last year in recognition of his great efforts in developing Saudi-Japanese relations over many decades.

       Mr. Shimmura said that Jeddah became the first Saudi city to hold the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) at Dar Al-Hekma University, and this test will be held again this year. He hopes that the desire of Saudis, women and men, to study the Japanese Language will increase so that this test will continue in the coming years. He added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing a qualitative cultural shift that has made the Japanese language popular in culture, entertainment and business.
 
       Mr. Shimmura confirmed that SAJGA members will have an important role in developing and strengthening Saudi-Japanese relations, and encouraging future students to study in Japan to transfer Japanese expertise and experiences to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

       He concluded by hoping that tonight’s Reunion will be an opportunity for everyone to get to know each other.

       For his part, Dr. Samarkandi, in his speech on behalf of SAJGA members, expressed his thanks to Mr. Shimmura for this generous gesture, which contributes to strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two friendly countries, stressing his readiness to provide all the possible support to the new and postgraduate students wishing to study in Japan and providing advice and guidance to them, which facilitates the beginning of their educational journey in Japan with many international universities in various fields and specializations.
