On June 1, 2023, the Consulate-General of Japan in Jeddah hosted the first session of the "Evening of Japanese Language and Culture", a yearly cultural programme organized by the Consulate-General in 2023-24.
This time, the Consulate-General invited Mrs. Satoe Bamofleh, a Japanese language teacher residing in Jeddah, to give an orientation on learning Japanese to those who have never studied Japanese before.
Mrs. Bamofleh explained how to express greetings such as "Konnichiwa" and "Yoroshiku Onegai shimasu" and how to write hiragana characters.
Participants left such comments as, "It was my first time to study Japanese, so it was a very good experience for me to know the basics of the language," "I want to participate in more events like this to learn more about Japan and Japanese culture,” and “I learned a lot and it pushed me to learn Japanese.”
