Consul-General in Jeddah hosts Emperor Birthday Reception

On February 13, Consul-General Yamamoto hosted a reception at his residence to celebrate the Birthday of the Emperor of Japan. His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah Al- Saud, Governor of Jeddah Governorate, the officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government entities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, representatives of relevant institutions, Consul-Generals, Businessmen and others attended the reception.
Mr. Yamamoto expressed his congratulations to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of Saudi Foundation Day which is one day earlier to His Majesty’s birthdate.
Consul-General Yamamoto stated that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Kingdom, as the Japanese and Saudi ambassadors to Egypt agreed to establish diplomatic relations on June 7, 1955, Since then two countries have enjoyed long history of friendly and cooperative relations based on mutual respect and common interests, and relations between them have become stronger and deeper in various fields, especially in recent years.
He reviewed the Second edition of “Hayy Matsuri” held in January 2025 and introduced the Consulate hold the “Manga, Hokusai, Manga” exhibition at the Jeddah Historic District from February 16 to further enhancing cultural relations between the two countries.
He also called for the guests to visit Osaka Kansai EXPO 2025, which will open in April, and expressed his hopes for the importance of further Saudi investments in Japan and for the further expansion of economic activities by Japanese companies in Saudi Arabia, which will host the 2030 Riyadh Expo and the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
The reception was attended by many guests, who were served Tempura, Sushi, and Yakitori provided by the Consul-General's chef, making it an excellent opportunity to promote Japanese food in Jeddah. H.E. Mr. MORINO Yasunari, Ambassador of Japan in Saudi Arabia, who arrived in Riyadh in last December, attended the reception and warmly interacted with the guests.
