Online Demonstration on Japanese dishes

As one of the cultural programs hosted by the Consulate-General of Japan this year, an online Japanese cooking demonstration by the chef of Consul-General Mr. Takano was uploaded once a month from August to December, for a total of five sessions. Each demonstration can be viewed on our official YouTube channel. Bon appétit!
Session 1 (2022/8/1): Teri-Yaki with Tai
Mr. Takano cooked fresh Tai purchased first thing in the morning at the fish market in Jeddah, located along the Red Sea.
Session 2 (2022/9/5): Oranda-ni of Tai
Tai is cooked by Mr. Takano in Dutch-style broth. Explaning about Nagasaki's Dejima Island, Mr. Takano explains how Japanese cuisine has developed by fusing Western elements as well.
Session 3 (2022/10/4): Tai covered with Potato Salada
Chef Takano's original dish! This is a typical Japanese home-style dish of potato salad wrapped with Tai.
Session 4 (2022/11/8): Ushio-jiru
Through the introduction of Ushio-jiru, which is made even with the head of Tai, Mr. Takano also introduced the Japanese culture of "mottainai," or "what a waste".

This is Chef Takano's original dish that is a "fusion (Yugo)" of Japanese Matcha green tea and Saudi dates. He describes it as a "friendship (Yuko) dessert" between Japan and Saudi Arabia.
